Host Family Pre-Arrival Orientation - Before School Starts

  • Inform your student about community and school activities, and encourage him/her to get involved.

  • If you have no teenaged children at home, arrange for a teenager you know to spend some time with your student before school starts.

  • Complete the Host Family and Student Workbook, and review the “25 Topics to Discuss With Your Student” in your Host Family Handbook

  • Take your student to the high school for registration.  The school has copies of the student’s documentation in a packet mailed to them by SHARE!, and will use these to determine the best course of study.

  • Complete sports physicals and have the student get any immunizations they may still need to start school.  The student will need to pay for these out-of-pocket.
